KNOWING NEW ALTERNATIVE SPORTS

Hi everyone,

Here we are again, with information about our 3rd and 4th grade students. During this second quarter of the year we have been able to get to know and practice different alternative sports such as colpbol or datchball.

But, what are alternative sports? Alternative sports are understood as physical and sporty activities that have been born mainly for educational porpuses, seeking objectives such as coeducation, coexistence or equality.

As we have said, we have been able to begin to learn about two sports such as Datchball and Colpbol.

Datchball is a divided court sport in which 2 teams throw balls at each other with the aim of hitting the rivals. Here you can see an explanatory video.

While Colpbol, is an invasion sport similar to handball in which two teams hit the ball only with pats, trying to get it into the opponent's goal. You can see an explanatory video right here.

So, as we always tell you, go out and practice sports, because there is always something new to learn.

We are here again, with some physical education news.

In this second part of the course, the students of 1st and 2nd grades have become into ninjas and are improving their motor skills: throwings, jumps, turns and balance.

In order to do that, we have used the the well-known TV program called "Ninja Warrior" to increase the children's motivation. We have turned our gym into a training ground where diferent challenges have been built. Here we let you and example of what this program consists of.

All of our students are working their best to improve all their skills and becoming true ninja warrriors.
And you? Do you want to become a ninja warrior too? So we encourage you to go out and start working in yourself.

Maybe one day, we will have an own ninja warrior program for our school, but until then we will keep training. Good luck!

EL CAMINO DE PIEFCITOS

This year our students are involved in a healthy and sporty project, "El camino de Piefcitos".

This project was born some years ago and developed by Carlos Chamorro, a PE teacher from Madrid. Due to the quality of the plan and the values that it pretends to empower, it actually has more than 200 schools from all over the country attached to it.

"El camino de Piefcitos" is now developed and boosted by teachers from Spain an many other diferent countries, trying to travel different paths by doing some activities related to practicing physical activities, eating healthy food, reading or taking care of the environment.

We will try our best to arrive as far as possible!!

SEE YOU SOON!👋👋👋

LEGUMES DAY!

Today, February 10, we celebrate the international day of legumes. Here are some of the benefits of this type of food:

·         Legumes are one of the foods with the highest protein content.

·         They are rich in fiber.

·         They are rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iodine and iron.

·         They do not have gluten, which makes them suitable for people with celiac disease.

·         They are a great source of B complex vitamins.

·         Most legumes do not contain fat.

For these and other reasons, it is important to say that legumes are perfect to eat at any moment of the year.

How much do you know about legumes? We propose this Kahoot! to show your knowledge.

PARKOUR FOR SCHOOLS

 Hello everyone!

How are you doing?

Do you want to know more about Parkour?

Parkour is a movement activity that promotes health and fitness whilst teaching young people to master their bodies and minds.

The term ‘Parkour’ originating in France in the 1980s, was adopted from 1998. It derives from the French word ‘parcours’ meaning ‘route’ or ‘course’.  Used interchangeably, “Parkour, Freerunning, Art Du Deplacement, is the non-competitive physical discipline of training to move freely over and through any terrain using only the abilities of the body, principally through running, jumping, climbing and quadrupedal movement.” Whilst there is no set list of moves those that are often practiced are:

  • running towards a wall and then jumping and pushing off the wall with a foot to reach the top of the wall
  • moving from a position hanging from a wall-top or ledge, to standing on the top or vaulting over to the other side
  • Vaulting over obstacles
  • jumping and landing accurately with the feet on small or narrow obstacles
  • jumping and catching a ledge with the hands while the feet land on the vertical surface below.
  • using a rolling motion to help absorb large impacts
Let´s see a video!
